One of a set of Dining Chairs that incorporate the natural edge of Big Leaf Maple for the crest rail and the back splat. The clients wanted a chair that reflected the land and the forest around their house which has some large Maple trees.
It was a challenge using the natural edge with so much joinery involved but in the end it was worth the extra effort in that it creates something unique, as the straight lines and symmetry of the chair are interrupted by the uneven edges of the tree.
Materials; Big Leaf Maple, seat Red Alder, legs and stretchers Gary Oak. Finished with Polymerized Tung Oil.
