Art Deco Theremin Cabinet; May 2014.
A Theremin is an early electronic musical instrument designed by Leon Theremin in 1928. The client who collects them wanted a ‘concert theremin’ and asked me to build the table and the cabinet which would house the electronics that he constructs. Working on the design I drew from the Art Deco aesthetic as it is the era of origin. The visual line from the tapered legs into the turning and then the curved cross supports are an attempt to register that and to give the piece some presence in a performance setting.
